Our preflight process ensures all files are properly prepared and accurate before entering the proofing and production phase. COS accepts all types of media and we operate in all major programs for Mac and PC.

We also utilize the latest combination of hardware and software to exceed industry standard specifications for proofing / color matching.

Prepress & Proofing Specifications

Resolution:

​

Please ensure that image resolution is 300 dpi at the size it is placed in your document.  Images taken from the Internet are generally unusable as they are only 72 dpi and RGB - which results in poor quality printed images.

​

PDF File Specifications:

 

Use the appropriate "Press Ready" setting for PDF file output.  Please make sure your colors are set to "As Is" and you add the appropriate bleed amount.  Any PDFs should include all necessary crop marks.

Hardware

 

Epson Surecolor P9000 Commercial Edition (Violet) This unit incorporates the latest PrecisionCore TFP Print Head and PrecisionDot Screening Technology along with an eleven-color UltraChrome HDX pigment-based ink set with auto-switching black ink technology to produce vivid, brilliant images at a finely detailed resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi. Our commercial edition utilizes a Violet ink that allows us to produce up to 99% of the Pantone Formula Guilde for solid color matching during proofing.

      

Software

 

EFI Fiery Proofing XF: The new industry standard for color matching. Multiple proofing profiles allow us to simulate all current proofing standards. The software closely integrates with our automated XRite i1iO Pro scanner which allows us to read and maintain repeatable color to our offset and digital devices. Our color profiles are optimized weekly to ensure a Delta-E of less than 2 and every 90 days profiles are re-calibrated to ensure year to year consistency.
